In these unprecedented times, many Schools, Colleges and Universities have moved their teaching online, in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic. You might be at home now, studying, alone, trying to keep motivated and focused, but it can feel isolating.?
So we have put together five tips to help you get through this time if you are continuing your studies online.
Study in short, frequent sessions. Your study days are not a marathon, break up your work by topics or into a series of short sessions. This way, you won’t be staring at your books or computer for too long and your brain can absorb the material more easily.
Take regular breaks especially from your screen! There are apps such as TimeOut for Mac and Smart Break for Windows, to lock yourself out of your computer for 30 minutes. Or you can just launch a simple clock or timer on the screen when you take a break.
Prepare your home study environment. When learning remotely it is important to create a study space for yourself. By setting aside a desk or table that is a designated environment for self-studying or completing your online work, you will be mentally prepared to learn when you enter that space.
Remember to ask for help. If you need any support with your studies, your academics are still working and will be online to help, just drop them an email.
Facetime your friends! In these uncertain times where many people are socially distancing themselves or self-isolating, it is important to remain in contact with people. Set aside some time to have a chat with friends, a good girly gossip, or even keep spirits high by planning some trips with each other when this is all over.
